Just stumbled by and looking for a place to begin? Here are a few posts to get you started:
Who am I and where can you find me?
Ah, the most basic information first, of course. Find out more about me and how it all began, how I ended up in the small village of Mogotes in a country called Colombia and of course my first impressions when I arrived in this little place with not another tourist or English speaker in sight besides Wilfredo (my boyfriend and the reason I’m here).
Want to hear what the Colombians have to say?
Check out some of the interviews. You could start with the popular Roberto who now lives in London. He shared some of his fashion and erotic photography of Colombian women in his post. Maybe you’re off to Barranquilla for the carnival? That’s Mauricio‘s favorite thing about his hometown. Patricia is a tour guide from Antioquia and Orlando is home in Cali. Then there’s the street artists – Stinkfish and DjLu with lots of photos of their amazing work. Of course there’s loads more and the list is growing…
Or listen to the expats who have made Colombia their home.
There’s American Mike and British Kat who live in San Gil and run Gringo Mike’s Sandwiches. Canadian Dave runs an amazing looking joint in Medellin called Tinto Tintero – a must-see if you’re in the area. There’s another American Mike who’s teaching English in Bogota for a year and American Pete who teaches too. And plenty of others!
Looking for places in Colombia to travel?
So far, I’ve been to busy Bogota, picturesque pueblos Barichara and Guane, adventure land of parrots and parks San Gil and a random tropical bird hole.
Read about some unique experiences perhaps?
I helped pick body parts off of giant ants when they were still alive then fried and ate them. Besides those, I’ve tried some other interesting foods. I’ve learned a lot about the process of making panela, what cool stuff you can make from fique and about the art of doing nothing. I’ve signed up for a guadua class. I’ve also met a lot of fascinating people like the two families who live up in the mountains and the Mogotes medicine man.
Want to see some photos?
Once in a while I feature some from the Flickr pool. Add your own if you like. There’s Tim’s churros, a beautiful yellow shot of Santa Barbara and lots of other Bogota shots from Jess, and Rodrigo gets up close and personal with Colombia’s wildlife. Poke around a bit and you’ll discover lots more.
