Photo Columnist: Tim Lowe

Tim 300x300 Photo Columnist: Tim LoweTim Lowe was born in Hagestown, Maryland a very, very long time ago and currently splits his time between his homes in Elgin, Illinois (just outside of Chicago) and Jamundi, Colombia (just outside of Cali). He has always been somewhat of an outsider.

Tim’s dad, once a photography instructor in the US Army Signal Corps, put a camera in his hands shortly after he learned to walk and talk. He’s been an off-and-on amateur photographer ever since.

He had a long and storied career in information technology and management consulting until he suffered a stroke in 2009. His neurologist suggested that a return to serious photography might help him overcome the effects of his significant vision loss.

In this space, Tim presents some of his photos, the stories and thinking behind them and, hopefully, sparks a bit of good, old fashion conversation. His column is called El Gringo Viejo.

He can be reached at timllowe@gmail.com and you can see more of his work on Flickr.
